Pigeon Pierre's Pyramid Paranoia

Pigeon Pierre Parentheses never takes a holiday, does he? He really should. As in, a permanent vacation to go spend time with his volk — er, family.

Because over the Labour Day weekend, Canada's version of Stephen Miller (albeit with greasy hair rather than an outright skinhead) couldn't help himself from going further down the pit of anti-Semitic dog whistling to a lot of German shepherds. (And I say that with apologies to German shepherds.)

I mean, really: How else do you explain this?

He's going to hide behind the notion that it's just a chart connecting supposed "Liberal corruption," coincidentally after Mr. McNair sent out a tweet debunking the kind of deficit-obsessed pearl clutching that the penny-pinching pigeon likes to have a hatewank over.

But as his QNonsense cohorts are fond of saying, symbolism will be their downfall.
Nazi concentration camp badges, primarily triangles, were part of the system of identification in German camps. They were used in the concentration camps in the German-occupied countries to identify the reason the prisoners had been placed there. The triangles were made of fabric and were sewn on jackets and trousers of the prisoners. These mandatory badges of shame had specific meanings indicated by their colour and shape. Such emblems helped guards assign tasks to the detainees.
Now here's a chart from that Wikipedia article, with a colour-coded indicator for the kinds of "crimes" the prisoners wore that corresponded to their respective patch:

At the very bottom you'll note that some prisoners were given two "crimes" to wear as marks of shame on their uniforms, the triangles overlapping each other to make the form of... a Star of David. This meant that some prisoners, while not Jewish themselves, were doubly condemned for their perceived transgressions to the Nazi regime that they were considered to be the lowest form of humanity that Hitler and his cronies so despised.

This is what Pierre Poilievre is doing to Robert Silver, a private citizen and the husband of Justin Trudeau's chief of staff, Katie Telford. Moreover, this is what the supposed "moderate" Erin O'Toole is allowing him to do. To smear him as a Jewish man with the kind of symbols the Nazis used to mark their victims in concentration camps.

What sickens me is how willfully blind the (very white) political media establishment is, preferring instead to manufacture bad PR for Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party while deliberately glossing over the mainstream opposition party's devolution into the kind of dog-whistling and hate mongering reminiscent of the Holocaust. They will gaslight people who try to point this out, calling us "Liberal Twitter" or "Trudeau stans" or what have you. But no, sorry not sorry. After Soros-gate last week, and before that his objectionable pun on the man's last name, I have no reason to believe that Poilievre, and by extension the CPC,  aren't engaged in a knowingly anti-Semitic attack campaign on Mr. Silver and other (progressive) Jewish people.

Strike one:

Strike two:

and now, strike three.

Although as if that isn't bad enough, he's riling up other QNonsense cultists positing a different conspiracy theory about the triangle symbol, one that is just as ridiculous, libelous, and, yes, dangerous:

This needs to stop and it needs to stop now. Come on Canada... don't be a sucker.

Can Trudeau beat Harper again?

About (er, Aboot, eh)

The world needs more Canada. Especially the elephant in the bed. I'm an American observer peeking over the hedge, writing about Canadian politics and culture — including foreign relations with its nearest (and most unpredictable) neighbour — from my unlucky perch south of the 49th parallel.

Frequent Former (for now?) commenter at Wonkette (as the Girl Guide, resident south-of-the-border Trudeau stan) and as Jackie at Simon's blog.

Unapologetic supporter of the Liberal Party of Canada and Team Trudeau (aka the "Tru Grits"), and the Democratic Party USA. (Yes, unapologetic. I'll never say soory for that.)

Proud "Liberal Psycho," according to irascible Maclean's douchebag Stephen Maher, the other political white guy named Maher as annoying and abusive as Bill. Honoured to be a member of Jake Tapper's TruAnon.

I also write The Canadian Fishwrap Project, a media criticism blog. The #CdnMediaFailed, so I'mma keep calling 'em out.
