A Three-Hour Tour
Justin Time.
May the Force Be With You, always and forever. Whatever you choose to do after this fateful day.
You've got the most unbelievable blue eyes I've ever seen.

Suffer the Children
Maggie Said Knock You Out
Grit 'n' Bear It
Some nice news out of Canada amid the maelstrom of irrational anger at mon premier ministre d'amour. (Which... might not be so bad... yet?)
I suppose Justin Trudeau had to recuse himself from the bear hunt because Ryan Reynolds is his friend. 🙄
No matter. I made that one in the photo above at Zazzle last year, and I'm going to hug him and squeeze him and root, root, root for the Red Team. I'm also going to hug my mom, and I imagine Justin Trudeau is going to hug Margaret too. (At least remotely, if she's still self-isolating because y'know, pandemic.)
Je t'aime, True Heart Bear. Take note, hatemongers: you don't mess with Mama Bear.

Thank You for Being My Friends
I Guess I Spoke Too Soon
Per some earlier posts from last week I'm beginning to think it's probably better if he did go on his own terms rather than get forced out or humiliated by a rigged/stolen election.
Not that I won't miss him, of course. He'll say his piece on the record but I can't see him lasting all that much longer. Not when his own party has their hair standing on end and people are trying to kill him and eviscerate his family.

What's Up, Doc?
Happy EIGHTIETH Birthday to Bugs Bunny!
One Moment in Time
I know I said I was done with this for the time being, but some new deets dropped today vindicating the government and we learn now that this is the big week for the star attractions. The K-bros tomorrow; JT and KT on Thursday. Then hopefully this flushes out after a few media and polling cycles because there is nothing new to say that hasn't been said already.
I don't see anything nefarious or evil or criminal here other than the normal operations of government. As for the PM being involved, it seems like it is pretty open and shut now.
No way anyone can accuse Trudeau of trying to benefit WE now after these revelations.
Also, I saw that there was a conflict of interest section in the WE deal. It appears like Trudeau may not be in a conflict after seeing that?
I don't believe a recusing is even necessary because of that?
I look forward to a comment on that.
Also, putting the money forward would simply be to operate the program and that was up to the public service.
Again, seeing all of this I see no issues and it proves it was to help students.
I don't actually like WE Charity, and I think Bill Morneau really stepped in it with his free travel and should probably resign or be shuffled, but I still don't see evidence of the PM trying to act in a nefarious manner yet. He failed to recuse obviously, and that is a mistake that I suspect he will get a violation for, but so far that seems to be his only issue. Obviously he is testifying before the finance committee sometime this week so that could change if he reveals something else, but I'm not expecting him to.
How people can say this is overblown is beyond me.
He was part of a meeting and decision he shouldn't have been part of. But the CPC and media are treating it like he is stealing money to line his own pockets and even the NDP are gung-ho to drag his mother through the mud.
In contrast, 19 per cent of 2019 New Democrat voters say the same [that the scandal rises to level of criminality], and six per cent of past Liberals.
I wonder how this relates to the polling reaction to Liberal scandals? When you see [Charlie] Angus at the forefront attacking hard, instead of it driving more polling for the NDP, instead it seems to drive voters from the Liberals to the CPC.
Where are the Liberal/NDP swing voters? Do they exist beyond "ABC"? Is it that most of these Liberal/NDP swingers have firm-enough support for the liberals that they reject or ignore the scandals?
Because after this move it seems like it's time for NDP to cut this shit out. I get *why* they're going after the liberals on scandals, but its impact on the Canadian electorate looks to be undermining their policy goals.
why are women more supportive of Trudeau
Have you not seen Justin's face?
Trudeau could frolic naked on the Parliament lawn and I still couldn't vote Conservative the way things are now.
Honestly, that might help lock down even more votes.
Jesse has a pretty big personal vendetta against WE and has been trying to bring them down for some time. The reason being was like 15 years ago a magazine Jesse worked for was sued for libel (or is it slander?) by WE (then Free the Children) and the settlement was so big that it bankrupted the magazine. There are plenty of real, honest to goodness complaints to be made against the company, and I'd be willing to engage in some good intentioned questions. But Jesse and Canadaland's tactic of stretching some pretty ridiculous claims past the point of believability and mixing them with actual criticisms makes the whole thing look as you put it as throwing at the wall to see what sticks.
I'm happy to see Brown finally displaying his full colours for all to see on this, especially now as he's frequently retweeting Brian Lilley's questionable reporting on WE.
I haven't trusted Brown since he flew to Ezra Levant's defense for his false accusation that Ontario's Greater Essex County District School Board had issued a memo that supposedly said "teachers should be prepared to exempt Muslim students from Remembrance Day".
"They totally [expletive deleted] lied about it," Brown said. "They completely doctored the document after the fact."
This was false. He never issued a correction on the original podcast. Then a couple of months later he had Levant on Canadaland for an interview and kissed his ass almost the entire time.
Like Levant, he's interested in directing his grift towards whatever will pull in the most subscription dollars, and now he appears to be pivoting away from social justice issues to cater to the Rebel Media crowd.

A Quick Update Before He's Gone
Well, she's out with her new data (NB: ARI oversamples their own supporters in a self-selected panel).
This one here tweeted by our friend G.T. and annotated by yours truly bolsters the sentiment that this may be a blow but not a fatal one. That right there, is the big takeaway. Trudeau's approval ratings and whatnot don't matter worth a damn. He's a polarizing figure, no shit. So was his father. So was Harper. So was Chretien.
Darrell Bricker, CEO of Ipsos Public Affairs ... said that the good news for the Liberals is that when the next election happens, WE Charity will be one among many other issues that will be before Canadians as they decide which party they want to vote for, adding, “The thing that’s going to determine the outcome of the next election is probably how the coronavirus, particularly the economic recovery, is managed,” said Mr. Bricker.
“That’s what’s going to affect Canadians far more than anything that has to do with any of these ethical lapses or this particular scandal. So that offers them an opportunity to refocus people on things that are important and really matter to them in their day to day lives.”
Regardless of what the Conservatives and the media think, scandals, real or otherwise, do not have the staying power that they seem to believe they do. Unless a scandal takes place during or immediately prior to an election they usually do not have a real impact on where voters place their X on the ballot paper. No election will be held for at least another year.
See you in September. Have a merry Chrystia-mas, from the son of Lucky Pierre.

Veeeeeeeeerrry interesting.

Hanging By a Moment
I'm sick of political drama and suspense. I just want this summer of stupidity to be over. And all I can do is try to parse the tea leaves as to the fate of the prime minister of my heart.
